In Japan, aloeswood is graded according to flavour, with the five key flavours being sweet, sour, hot, bitter and salty. The Seiun Jinkoh aloeswood is graded as sweet, and there are distinct notes of sweetness mixed in with the rich and earthy aroma released when this incense is burned. Nippon Kodo's premium Seiun range of fragrances are considered an inspiration to greatness, with calming and fresh scents. The packaging features an attractive brown and gold design and kanji characters with the brand name. Seiun incense has a higher concentration of charcoal than other incense, and burns at a hotter temperature with much less smoke. Unlike Indian incense, Japanese sticks do not have a bamboo core, so there is no specific end to light. The gentle, low-smoke burn is an integral part of enjoying the fragrance. Insert the unlit end of the incense into the incense holder.
