The Lovely Day Single Origin Myanmar by Dark Arts Coffee
The Lovely Day Single Origin Myanmar by Dark Arts Coffee. The Lady Natural 2024 is part of an innovative project from Myanmar that showcases the skill of female coffee producers in the Ywangan region of Shan State. Created in 2018 by Su Nandar Linn and Thi Ha Gyawalie, The Lady is a processing facility that works exclusively with women farmers, supporting over 400 producers across seven villages. This Red Catuai lot, grown at 1350 MASL, undergoes a specialised carbonic maceration process using both dry and wet fermentation techniques in sealed tanks to boost brix levels and acidity before being dried on raised beds for 20 to 24 days. The social impact of The Lady project is a cornerstone of its model, aiming to provide sustainable livelihoods and recognition for women who historically sold their coffee at low prices to the local commodity market. Through a transparent system where 20 percent of profits from green coffee sales are returned directly to the farmers, alongside technical training in quality control and processing, the initiative is transforming Myanmar into a respected source of high quality specialty coffee.
